Yamata-no-Orochi is a dragon like scrpent, huge as a mountain and with a magical sword "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi" in its tail,

 famous for its battle with Susanoo-no-Mikoto as mentioned in the Japanese scripture, the Kojiki.
